Working with Instrument Samples

How do I take a sound I like and turn it into an instrument to use in one of those programs from the first tutorial you did? Do programs map these sound samples to different notes, or do I have to personally modify them and, if so, how?

The rest of this post is probably really interesting. I bet it even has, like, instructions on how to obtain a free horse. I wish I could read it. Oh I know! I'll subscribe to plasterbrain on Patreon! Alright, now this should be so far down no one will be able to read it, so I can store all my secrets here. Note to self, the site's nuclear codes are–
