Site Changelog 11/28/22

Posted November 27, 2022

The free instrument lists have been updated for the end of 2022. I’m trying out the latest Text Fragment URL Technology™ to make some download links more useful for viewers in Chrome and Safari.

What’s new in free instrument world:

  • Spitfire’s BBCSO is now available to download without needing to complete a survey and wait two weeks.
  • Jon Meyer Sounds has moved from Selz to the Pulse Audio store. Relevant links have been updated and now require Woocommerce checkout, a Pulse account, and the Pulse downloader.
  • Atom Hub instruments have moved to Loot Audio and now require a free account.

Some organizational changes:

  • “Moody guitars” is now “Clean guitars,” and contains “Funk guitars” as a subsection. “Metal/rock guitars” is now “Distorted guitars.”
  • Natural (valve-less) horns and trumpets have been moved out of “Horns” and into their own section. Western horns and trumpet sections have been labeled “orchestral” for clarity.
  • Some of the double bass entries have moved to the new “Jazz bass” subsection.
  • Body percussion and cheek pops have moved to “Found sounds.”
  • Dan tranh is now under “Zithers” instead of “Guitar-likes/lutes.”

…And now for today’s stats!

  • 11 new instruments: bukkehorn, bronze lur, citera, khim, kolintang, solo male throat singing, spinet, steel frothing mug, talempong, toy trumpet, toy xylophone
