Many of these are arbitrarily categorized by genre. Do a Ctrl + F to find your faves. Note: These are mostly “organic” drum sounds, as I’m leaving the emulated drum machine and synthesized sounds for whenever I get around to making a free synths list, bye!

Generic drums and human sounds.

Standard kit: Naughty Seal Audio PD PLAYER‘s demo kit is premixed and sounds great out of the box. You have to download the player plug-in, then the kit found at the bottom of the page, which you can toss into the plug-in folder. VSTAUAAX; Manda Audio MT Power Drum Kit is a more compact option at less than 100mb, and has even been tested/beatmapped for Mixcraft. It has a nag screen at the start unless you’ve donated, but otherwise is fully functional. VSTAUAAX; SM Drums has a lot of velocity layers and round robins if you’re looking for something a little more robust (it’s around 2gb). SFZ; Wilkinson Audio Naked Drums as a Kontakt instrument or SFZ is the perfect kit for control freaks — a set of multi-mic drum sounds designed to be manually routed to your DAW so you can mix each one to perfection. Virtual drummer kit: RAYZOON Jamstix 4 Free Edition is a perfect fit if you struggle to write realistic drum parts — stuff like spontaneous drum breaks and fills. You can pick virtual drummer AI models, play styles, and kits to produce tons of variations on basic drum patterns. The workflow is a little bit different than your standard drum VSTi, and the interface is the ugliest thing I have ever seen, but it sounds very good. Win VST
